A Friday night traffic stop in Fresno ended with police recovering a stolen vehicle and taking a suspect with 21 prior arrests into custody again. He's already out!
Officers conducted a traffic stop on Friday on a reported stolen vehicle at East Olive Avenue and North Linden Avenue. The vehicle did not pull over, and the driver took off. Officers did not pursue.
Police later located the unoccupied vehicle near North Ferger Avenue and East Olive Avenue and saw the driver running away on foot. Officers surrounded the area and conducted a yard-to-yard search with patrol officers, Neighborhood Traffic Unit officers, Multi-Agency Gang Consortium officers, a K-9, and the assistance of the air unit AIR1.
The driver, later identified as 30-year-old Jacob Ryan, tried to evade officers by running out of the perimeter but was quickly taken into custody, police said. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges related to the stolen vehicle and DUI. This was Ryan's 22nd arrest, but he was released under a federal court order to keep jail population levels down.
His charges were for a stolen car, stolen property, probation violation, resisting arrest, and DUI, yet he's out again. In 2015, Ryan was caught after doing the same thing. He ran from police, hiding in somebody's yard before neighbors and deputies ultimately captured him. Also in 2015, deputies arrested four people believed to be responsible for more than a half dozen burglaries over a two-month period. Ryan was one of them.
The 18-year-old Ryan was arrested with his twin brother, 18-year-old Joshua Ryan, 21-year-old Trent Murphy, and 19-year-old Disiree Jacinto Villalobos. Joshua Ryan has been arrested 23 times since turning 18.
Their crimes spanned Madera and Visalia and included home burglaries, vehicle burglaries, and vehicle thefts.
