Two people were arrested Tuesday and face possible charges of child endangerment.
Clovis Police Department says that just before 10:30 on Tuesday morning they were called to the shopping center at Clovis and Herndon Avenues for a shoplifting in progress.
Dispatchers used the city camera network and the description of the two individuals provided to them by a store employee to find them.
Officers pulled over the two in their car, however, police say the two sped away. A short pursuit then began which was canceled near Bullard and Highway 168.
A Clovis resident called in suspicious activity with adults matching the description of the two individuals.
They were near Bullard and Helm Avenues.
Officers from various divisions and, assisting patrol officers and with help from Fresno Police’s Air 1 helicopter, the two individuals were found and arrested without incident.
The two were identified as 24-year-old Aliza Vega-Estrada and 25-year-old Matthew Schwarz, both of Fresno.
Police say that Vega-Estrada was found with a handgun and her toddler with her.
They say Schwarz has been a wanted gang member.
In addition, Schwarz and Vega-Estrada also face possible charges of shoplifting and conspiracy.
Vega-Estrada was also booked for the illegally concealed firearm and Schwarz was also booked for evading officers and a warrant.
